當天從台南北上管事的凱倫原本說很有機遇過來，跟姊妹們聚聚!
結果她卡在竹南沒法前來，傳了簡訊給我，
我後來簡短地用英文回她 It's a shame that you cannot make it之類的話 翻譯社

沒想到隔了兩三天，我在準備發稿的時後，
她在線上傳了簡訊來，問我是否是因為她沒出席而生氣?
我丈二金剛摸不著頭，還問她怎麼會有這樣 翻譯想法，
才知道是我的英文讓她誤解了 翻譯社

本來，我們受的美式英文教育中，透露表現<可惜>一般會用pity 翻譯公司
教員一般都教What a pity.
可是，我在英國的經驗是，pity是用在對照嚴重 翻譯情緒上，
比力接近 <遺憾> 或是 <失蹤>，
如果不是太嚴重的失望、失落、遺憾，表達恻隱，幾近不消pity.

要表示<惋惜>或是有點打抱不服 翻譯意味時，英國人最經常使用’shame’ 翻譯公司
例如 what a shame or it’s a shame之類的，
最常用的用法是，真是可惜你要早走，或是真惋惜你不克不及來之類 翻譯 翻譯社
而凱倫正因為不知道shame如許的用法，
可能把shame翻譯成羞恥或慚愧，才會誤以為我在生氣吧?

下面有Longman online dictionary對shame這個字 翻譯注釋。
第一個最經常使用的用法就是我剛剛提到 翻譯what a shame/ it’s a shame…
it’s a shame/what a shame etc
spoken used when you wish a situation was different, and you feel sad or disappointed:
*’She’s failed her test again.’ ’What a shame!’
*It’s a shame that you have to leave so soon.
*What a shame we missed the wedding.

<Tea with milk>
今天因為報名加入花博國際導覽員，列入了一個簡單的線上英文測試，
裡頭有一題寫到台灣 翻譯名產特色<pearl milk tea>
想到我當初到英國，就因為奶茶<milk tea>被英國人嘲笑了很久。

本來是因為習慣民情不同，品茗的體式格局分歧、配方不同，講求更分歧!
如果要喝奶茶，英國人會說 <tea with milk>
然後會再視情況加糖<with sugar>或不加糖<without sugar>
最後請記得加<please>
在英國，底子沒有所謂 翻譯<milk tea>，
而台灣早飯店裡喝來甜滋滋 翻譯奶茶也曾讓英國佬極度憤恚!
一， 為什麼搭配早餐的茶竟然不是熱的?
二， 為什麼私行加糖變這麼甜?

嗯，所以那時候我才領會，台灣的奶茶很具有台灣本身的特色，
就像泰國奶茶一樣，帶點浦耳的味道。
話說回來，此刻喝久了不覺得，剛回來的前三個月，
都感覺台灣飲料 翻譯甜度嚇死人而難以下嚥呢~
(真的是久而不嚐其甜啊。。。)

我在 Georgian House工作時，女主人是個藝術家，
她很喜好跟我聊天，然後一邊聽我說台灣的工作，
一邊說<Fancy that>地暗示訝異或是第一次聽聞的那種新穎.

我之前工作的銀行推過一張fancy卡，我知道fancy當成形容詞，
台灣似乎會翻譯成<花俏>或是<新潮>之類 翻譯；
若當做動詞，一般城市表達<喜歡>或是<想要>，
例如，想約同夥去看片子會說<fancy a film tonight?>
想約伴侶去喝一杯會問<fancy a drink?>
(如果是辦事生，則凡是會問
what would you like to drink-若是你已在吧檯；
或是 would you like anything to drink?_在table)
(假如你聽到櫃台有人點餐或是點酒 用< I want …>開首，
鐵定就是中國人或是台灣人了。
哎，其他國度人的不會在點餐的時後用到 want這麼強烈 翻譯字眼。。)
Ps.英國人對照常說film, instead of movies

總之，fancy that零丁利用時可以表示驚奇，
或是兩邊對話時，
示意附和者一路進入你話中所描寫、所出現的想像裡頭，
有點類似<imagine that>的意思。

<imagine that>的意思則是英國佬Dr. Martin師長教師說的 翻譯社
